The capital of the Costa del Sol is Malaga, which has approx. 1.5 million people in the greater metropolitan area, and which houses the International airport. The Costa del Sol has the best climate in Europe, and temperatures on the coast range from the high teens in winter to mid-thirties in Summer, making it an ideal place to live. As such it attracts visitors all year round, particularly from Scandinavia, where temperatures rarely move above zero in winter. The cold wet dreary winters in the rest of Europe also send many visitors south to the Costa del Sol.
